First Aid Providers
The designated First Aid Provider must not be assigned work that conflicts with their duties and responsibilities to provide first aid. The assigned work must also allow the provider to remain fit and clean so that they can administer first aid.

Transportation Requirements
Employers have two options when deciding the type of transportation used for injured and ill workers:

1. An employer can use a local ambulance service but it is recommended that the service be capable of arriving at the site within 40 minutes.

2. If that option is not possible, an employer is to have a means of transportation from the work site that meet the following criteria:

  • a. - It must suit the distance to be traveled while keeping the ill or injured worker safe and comfortable.
  • b. - It must protect the injured worker and accompanying person from the weather and provide sufficient heat to keep both individuals warm.
  • c. - It must be equipped with a means of communication that allows occupants to communicate with a health care facility.
  • d. - It must be large enough to accommodate a stretcher and an additional person.
