Standard First Aid

Canadian Red Cross 2 day program.
Includes all of the content learned in the Emergency First Aid program.
Additional topics include: head and spine injuries, bone, muscle and joint injuries, wound care, sudden medical emergencies and environmental emergencies. SFA includes a level CPR C with AED.
The format is based on physical skills and lecture.
Upon successful completion, you will be given a 3 year ticket.

CPR C with AED

Canadian Red Cross ¾ day program. (Approx 5 hr duration)
Includes adult, infant, child and 2 rescuer CPR skills with the use of the AED. This program covers the primary life threatening emergencies such as heart disease, choking and shock.
Upon successful completion, stand alone CPR certification is 1 year.
Up to 3 years with a First Aid recertification.

STANDARD CHILD CARE FIRST AID & CPR

Canadian Red Cross 2 day program.
The course covers a variety of topics from basic first aid such as cardiovascular emergencies, CPR Level C with AED, choking, airway and breathing emergencies, and prevention of disease transmission to more in-depth topics such as sudden medical conditions and injuries to the head and spine. Comprehensive First Aid & CPR training for individuals who need training for child care or early childhood education work, or who simply want more knowledge to respond to babies’ and children’s injuries and emergencies at home. Written exam (min. passing grade: 75%)
Upon successful completion, you will receive a 3 year ticket.

ACLS – Advanced Cardiac Life Support / ACLS PROVIDER

This two-day course introduces diagnostic and therapeutic interventions for the acute cardiac patient through case based learning. The course is designed for those in the healthcare field who require or are interested in knowledge of acute cardiac care and resuscitation.
ACLS Prerequisites:
• Current Heart & Stroke Foundation of Canada - Basic Life Support for Healthcare Provider-C card.
• Current registration as a healthcare professional, including physicians, paramedics, nurses, respiratory therapists, dentists and military levels QL5 and above.

PALS – Pediatric Advanced Life Support / PALS PROVIDER

This two-day course introduces diagnostic and therapeutic interventions for the prevention of respiratory and cardiac arrest in infants and children. Participants will learn techniques for assessing the child at risk, as well as the resuscitation skills required to manage these patients. The course includes sessions relating to newborn resuscitation, respiratory failure, shock and cardiac rhythm disturbances, and case based scenarios for the application and integration of knowledge and skills.
This course is designed for registered healthcare professionals.
PALS Prerequisites:
• Current Heart & Stroke Foundation of Canada - Basic Life Support for Healthcare Provider-C card.
• Current registration as a health care professional including physicians, paramedics, nurses, respiratory therapists, dentists and military levels QL5 and above.

ITLS - International Trauma Life Support

ITLS is a global organization dedicated to preventing death and disability from trauma through education and emergency trauma care. ITLS is accepted internationally as the standard training course for pre-hospital trauma care, and is not only taught as a continuing education course, but is also used as a textbook in many para medicine programs.

There are two streams of ITLS: Basic and Advanced. Both courses are 16 hours of intensive theory and practical training.

ITLS Basic
This course is focused on the Basic Life Support provider, and provides skills they need for rapid assessment, stabilization, and transportation of trauma patients.
Some of the skills covered in this course include: basic airway, spinal motion restriction, rapid extrication, helmet management, log roll, and long back board, traction splints, patient assessment and management.

ITLS Advanced
This course takes ITLS basic to the next level. This course covers all of ITLS Basic, plus Advanced Life Support topics and skills. The focus of this program is rapid assessment, resuscitation, and transportation of trauma patients.
Some of the skills covered include: all of the skills in ITLS basic, plus advanced airway, chest decompression, vascular access, and fluid resuscitation.
